Training in the News

The graph above shows the occurrence of words relating to business and training in the news* in the UK for the last 12 months.

*specifically The Guardian newspaper, so not a representative sample of all new media.

For me the graph shows how much the training world I work in of leadership, stress management and team building is talked about in mainstream news media. Surprising to me is the lack of extra coverage business training and stress has been receiving given the onset of the recession (clearly indicated). I was expecting to see an increase in discussion on stress management and leadership in the news (especially given the Obama election).

News coverage relating to corporate bullying is noticeably low and has in fact shrunk to virtually non existent as the recession has deepened.

Thanks to Tom Hume of Future Platforms for making this training new graph for me. If like he and I you have the sense of humour of an eight year old and would like to see a graph showing occurrences of swear words in the Guardian look here.

Training So What: Training isn’t in the news more or less in the recession.
