Look for multiple signals<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cultural, age and gender is important<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gestures may mean very different things in different countries for example<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Incongruence and discomfort<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When words and body language don\u2019t match we may distrust someone. Psychological discomfort may indicate lying but may mean other things too<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evolutionary origins, e.g. Dominance and rapport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many body language signals come from our evolutionary past<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go with your gut<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Intuition is unconscious processing of information (e.g. subtle body language signs) fed back as physical feelings<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Authenticity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>People pick-up on inauthenticity and sincerity very easily<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Body Language Zones to be aware of:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Face &#8211; most obvious and powerful<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hands and gestures &#8211; power and protectiveness<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Posture \u2013 a person\u2019s overall attitude<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Head position \u2013 e.g. submissive tilt<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Positioning \u2013 e.g. space in relation to others<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Feet and legs \u2013 often the most honest, where someone wants to go<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eyes \u2013 \u201cgateways to the soul\u201d\u00a0 &#8211; also hard to fake<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mood and Embodiment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Beyond body language people live \u201cin\u201d long-term <a href=\"http:\/\/integrationtraining.co.uk\/blog\/2009\/11\/what-is-mood.html\">dispositions for action (moods<\/a>) and embody their characters. Bodies not only express what we are thinking and feeling but who we are.
