Last night I had the pleasure of training freeform aikido in East London with these guys.
They do aikido in a freeform way as a movement art rather than martial art. I really enjoyed it and there was a lot of crossover with Original Play and Paul Linden’s work. The emphasis on expression, intuition, sensitivity and presence in aikido was refreshing. Paradoxically, this dancelike freeform aikido training is also of great benefit from martial perspective as it teaches aiki in its purest form, and a great workout to boot.
If you can get yourself to New Cross East London check them out.

I use to train freeform a couple of years back but lost connection with it. I did use to really enjoy it, we would focus on listening, being active in hearing and able to absorb eachother to tune in. For me, a whole world would open in each new moment. Finding form and space together was so interesting for me. I liked letting go and surrendering to what was happening. I have been thinking about joining up again, do you have any recommendations of places in London that are good? London Glazier
