“Action Theater is an improvisational physical theater training and performance method created by Ruth Zaporah. The practice of Action Theater incorporates the disciplined exploration of embodied exercises that lead to increased skills of strong, clear, spontaneous, and artful communication.”
Last weekend I experienced Action Theatre in London with my friend Kate Hilder. Action Theatre (UK)/ Theater (US) Fear’ta (Mark) is not what I thought it was, as the wonderful experience I had wasn’t really about “theatre” or performance or as I’d previously understood it. It was about connection, play, fun, expression and insight, and right up my street.
While work is currently a roaring success I’m going through some melancholy times on the personal front, and playing and connecting with this going on was a challenge. Kate helped and it was fine. I suspect dramatic work is a growth edge for me over the next few years, and in imagine in another life where I didn’t get into martial arts I walked the boards!
Recommended.
