Nine reasons why people are disconnected from their bodies (and therefore themselves, their health, their ethics, their creativity, the environment and to others):
– lack of physical movement
– lack of touch
– an education system that emphasises cognitive knowledge over embodied wisdom
– it takes courage to feel and there’s plenty of ways to numb available (mass entertainment, alcohol, porn etc)
– they’re too busy
– sex shame
– body shame generally reinforced by a toxic media
– trauma. Sadly trauma causes conflict as well as vice versa so this is a cycle
– because rich powerful people and consumerism as a system encourage all the shit above. If people can feel why would they buy junk they don’t need and let others push them around?
